RAWABI HOLDING AWARDS
The Saudi-British Society is pleased to announce that a leading Saudi businessman from the Eastern Province, Mr Abdul Aziz Al Turki, has generously offered to fund two annual prizes to be known as the Al Rawabi Holdings Prizes which are to be awarded by the Saudi-British Society. The two prizes are of a value of £5,000 each and will be awarded to British individuals whom the Society considers as having made an outstanding contribution to furthering Saudi-British relations.
The areas in which the candidates would have made a contribution include a wide range of activities including social, educational and vocational, literature, journalism, sport, women’s affairs, welfare and disability care – to name a few. Activity of a purely commercial kind would not, however, be eligible as this field lies outside the ambit of our Society. It is proposed that the candidates for the prizes should be nominated in the first instance by the members of the Saudi-British Society. The names would then be considered by the Committee and a final selection will be put forward to Mr Abdul Aziz Al Turki.

It is planned that a ceremony is held early each year, when Mr Al Turki or another notable personality would present the winners with their prizes. The function would take the form of a buffet occasion with guests. The prizewinners would be asked to share with the audience facts about their work and experience. These occasions promise to become a prestigious feature in our future programmes. Mr Abdul Aziz Al Turki has also very generously offered to make a contribution towards the costs of these occasions.
